India and Russia agree on workshare for PAK FA 5th Gen fighter

India and Russia have agreed on the distribution of work with their joint production of the Sukhoi Pak FA. India will invest US$4 billion in the project and acquire at least 100 of the aircraft. The Indian version of the aircraft is to be designated the FGFA (Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft). The agreement will be formalised in October when President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit Goa for an Indian-Russian Summit. India is pleased with the new deal as Russia is to share with India some of the new technology which is to be incorporated in the aircraft. The slow progress in getting an agreement saw India consider pulling out as there was no new technology or production on offer.
